How did you get into this profession?
Like most people I fell into a profession. I was in my early 20’s when I became an IT nerd. Even back then I was more interested in the people, rather than the technical side. I wanted to be a leader and help people, but management’s perception of me was “blonde and fluffy”!!! That was all the motivation I needed, so I did end up going up the Corporate Ladder and I showed them that I could do it! Even though I had a successful career, I just didn’t feel fulfilled.
Working with my local drama company created an avenue to express my creative side. I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed creating outfits, especially with lots of accessories. I can be very experimental. My friends have always commented on my style and for years joked about being a stylist. Everything was going well until my whole world fell apart within a few months, my brother died, I lost my job and my relationship broke down. I do believe in every negative situation something positive will come out of it. I decided to make a career change and do something I’m passionate about – people and fashion. I went on a Personal Stylist course at the Casey Paul Academy in London and I’ve never looked back. I love to constantly learn new things, I’ve got a qualification in Interior Design, been on various courses – Fashion Stylist, Photography and Make-up. I’m currently studying for a diploma in NLP Life Coaching.
What do you love most about what you do?
Seeing the transformations of people. From increased confidence, shopping smarter without emotion, being more creative and stepping out of their comfort zone. Overall making people feel good about themselves.
What do you want to do next?
To own a boutique which shows people the best colours and styles to enhance their body shape.
What are your favourite high street shops?
I like Zara and H&M for that European edge, TK Maxx for variety and price, but I adore All Saints – so stylish, just love their draping fabric designs.
Who is you favourite designer?
Vivienne Westwood. She is an amazing lady, not only immensely talented, but a massive humanitarian wanting to save the planet. I love her designs – from punk edgy tartan to corset elegance.
